Abnormal Pap....totally scared!
DoeEyes06-06-2003, 06:59 PMI just had the results from my pap smear which were abnormal and had to go in for a colpscopy (spelled wrong) if these test comes back abnormal too, should I be worried? They talked about gyrosurgery, but I don't take pain very well and am wondering if there are any pills that I could take and not have to have anything else internally done.Hazelmoon2206-07-2003, 02:12 AMI had the same experience and I was totally freaked out. About a year and a half ago my pap came back abnormal, then I had the colposcopy, the results were also abnormal or mild dysplasia. Then 6 months later I repeated and same results. They will leave it alone to see if it clears up on its own, 2 of my friends had the same abnormal pap and theirs went away within 6 months. So you just have to wait and see, but if your doctor decides to do any type of surgery, cyrosurgery or LEEP or Cone Biopsy, they will give you something to numb you and medicate you most definitely. I have not heard of them doing any of those procedures without some drugs. I just had a LEEP and did not feel a thing, they did a great job numbing me.DoeEyes06-07-2003, 10:06 PMThanks! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif Now I do feel better about it. Even if these new results come back abnormal, at least I'll have another six months till I would have to get something done! Thank you very much, now I'm not as stressed!bigred26906-08-2003, 03:46 AMHey cheer up; I have had an abnormal pap smear and two culposcopies done. The first showed mild to moderate displasia (spelling) and the second showed that it was regressing. On the third pap smear they couldn't find any abnormal cells to do a culposcopy or biopsy of! My doctor told me to take extra good care of myself... alot of extra antioxidant vitamins and anything with antioxidants in it(vitamins, teas, some vegetables, etc) also things like black beans or any type of nuts are high in the same. I am not trying to promote GNC or anything but I got on the women's ultra mega vitamin (purple label with big pink flower on it on front) for a whopping $19.95 per month supply and don't know if it had anything to do with it or not, but it all disappeared and have had two normal paps since. I of course still have to make it two years with normal paps before they will let me go back to just once a year, but the abnormal cells have disappeared. Take good care of yourself (walk or exercise for like 30 mins at least three times a week), not too much caffeine(sodas, tea, chocolate, etc), not get too overweight, lots of vitamins, antioxidants, shoot for at least 8 hrs sleep each night, and try to make your life as stress-free as possible (easier said than done) and you will be working well on your way to better and abnormal cell free. Take care and good luck! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/blob_fire.gif those abnormal cells will be gone before you know it!DoeEyes06-09-2003, 10:30 PMThanks for the advice. I recently did buy Women's Ultra Mega, but only because I was told to take it with my diet pills, now I have a real, good reason to be taking it regularly, and hopefully it'll help me too! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
