COPD

annchane03-21-2003, 07:43 AMDoes anyone else here suffer with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder)? Over here in England our Doctors tell us absolutely nothing. All my Dr. would tell me is that the hospital have diagnosed COPD and I will need to use 2 different types of inhalers, and make monthly trips to the clinic. I still get quite breathless with the inhalers but all my Dr says is that it will settle down eventually if I keep taking the inhalers. I'd love to know more about this but there are so many different types of COPD and I'm not even sure which one I have. The nodules in my lungs turned out to be scar tissue from 10 years ago when I had chickenpox pneumonia, I spent 20 days in hospital. I still worry a little that I have lung cancer because I never got further than having normal chest x rays. Should I have had a CT scan or biopsy? I'm only beginning to worry again now because the inhalers don't seem to be working. I still have chest pain and need to "yawn" to take in breath. Is this normal for people with COPD? Any advice would be gratefully accepted. God bless, Ann.LeisaH03-21-2003, 10:28 AMAnn

your questions may be better answered in the forum Lung & Respiratory Disorders. It is located within Healthboards and does have suffers of COPD. You may post on as many boards here as you wish.

[This message has been edited by LeisaH (edited 03-21-2003).]Dan&cheryl03-21-2003, 02:04 PMI have asthma. I use two different inhalers and two different pills for preventive medicine. Also a rescue inhaler and nebulizer for attacks. I also notice the yawn. I thought it was a side effect. Give the inhalers time to build up in your system, at least a few weeks. Cherylannchane03-21-2003, 08:00 PMThanks Leisa and Cheryl, to be honest I never even thought of looking elsewhere. I am so used to this board now after fearing I might have lung cancer. How are you feeling now Cheryl? I really admire you, even though you are suffering badly you still make the time to offer hope and prayers to so many others. I pray that your pain will soon ease and that you will be soon be able to remember Danny without so much pain in your heart. He must have been a truly wonderful person, and don't forget......God takes all the good lambs first. God bless, Ann.Dan&cheryl03-21-2003, 08:51 PMDanny really was a good lamb. I'm doing better than when I posted before. I was having a really awful day. I went downtown today and looked for our resident falcons at the terminal tower building but all I could see was the nest box. They have a web site with updated pix every hour so I have been glued to my screen. Two eggs and counting. Danny would lay on the bed for the longest time while I rubbed his side and watched the birds. I can't tell you Ann how much I miss him. 35 years is a long time to have someone in your life and then just gone.
Everyone here is really amazing. So many good thoughts...Cheryl
