veggiegirl7503-18-2003, 07:35 PMThanks for responding to m,y lung nodules question. When they discovered you lung nodules , did they ever mention the word, granulomas. My doc says that they are most likely granulomas and that I has an intersititial pattern consistent with chronic bronchitis. Does any of this sound Familiar?annchane03-19-2003, 06:55 AMHi there, a granuloma consists of concentric layers of cells that, together, form a distinctive lesion of chronic inflammation, ie. bronchitis, asthma and emphasema. I was told I had COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disorder). My nodules are scar tissue left from when I had chickenpox pneumonia about 10 years ago. I now have to use 2 different types of inhalers 4 times a day, but they have made a big improvement to my breathing and I have only been using them for a week. I too was worried sick, I automatically assumed I had lung cancer because I had nodules. But I went through all that worry for nothing, because nodules really can be related to other diseases and NOT just lung cancer. I hope this puts your mind at rest. Let me know how you are doing, okay? Take care now, Ann.veggiegirl7503-19-2003, 08:14 AMThanks Ann. I had a PPD done yesterday, but I knew it was a waist of time. I also went to have a lot of blood work done. They are trying to rule out TB, sarcoidosis, and histoplasmosis. I go tomorrow to have a cat scan done on my lungs. I guess maybe that will give us some definitive answers. If not the doc says I will have to have a lung biopsy. My doc keeps telling me that it is not cancer, but I do not have a lot of faith in him. I have an appt scheduled with a new family doctor but it is not until April 8. I am trying to keep a positive attitude becuase my mother has histoplasmosis and she contracted it while I was still living at home so it is possible I could have contracted it at the same time. It is just very upsetting when I look at my little boy and think this could change his life forever. I am only 27 years old. Well, thanks for listening. On a positive note I have not had any trouble breathing for about 1 week now. This same thing happened to me last year. I started having some chest pains and slight SOB. I went to the doctor then , but he blew me off. The SOB went away in about 2 weeks. So i did not pursue it any further. So here I am again, only this time with a whole new can of worms. Anyway, enough babble on my part. I appreciate your response. Sometimes it seems like alot of people read posts on here but don't respond. I hope you are doing well with your COPD.

Kristin

Even though we both have COPD we still have to look on the bright side. Nothing could be as bad as lung cancer. We only have to read all the sad messages on this board about how badly lung cancer effects the whole family. At least we know we will be able to live a relatively normal life with medication. We certainly wouldn't have that privelage if we had lung cancer, so please try and look on the bright side. Some of the poor souls on this message board are going through hell and sometimes I actually feel guilty for having to post the message saying that I was fine after all. I feel deeply for the pain all these people are going through, especially Cheryl as she has been wonderful at offering her support to so many people, despite the pain she must be going through. It's people like her who give others the strength to carry on, and I take my hat off to her. She sounds like such a truly wonderful person. God bless, Ann.NancyEllen03-19-2003, 06:37 PMAnn don't feel guilty about being healthy, we are all happy for you. Keep posting. Good news makes everyone feel better. Nancy
