Pregnancy after LEEP

I saw a Thread in the Archives by a BRWNEYEDRL880 from around this time last year and she had gotten pregnant Close after her LEEP and said all was well. My Dr. implied that we should wait quite a while after before trying to get pregnant. On here, you will find women that are still struggling with dysplasia and looking for support. But, you will find a lot of women who have overcome dysplasia on the pregnancy section.
You should follow your doctor's advice. The LEEP takes a pretty big chunk out of your cervix and you really want it to heal completely before you try to use it to hold a baby in. You want to be as healthy as possible and completely dysplasia-free before you try to make a baby!KimRick07-06-2004, 09:45 AMI have experience with the LEEP, but not with pregnancies after the LEEP. I do know that any time you have invasive trauma to the cervix (biopsies &/or surgeries), it really is best to wait before becoming pregnant. If you should become pregnant and your cervix isn't healed all the way, there is a risk of miscarriage, ALTHOUGH, you're doctor can insert what is called a cerclage (a stitch) into your cervix to ensure a healthy pregnancy. I would talk to your doctor about when he/she thinks would be enough healing time for your cervix. Everyone heals differently.
