I was wondering if anyone knew what the chances are that the dysplaysia can recur? If the dysplasia was associated with HPV (human papilloma virus) it's possible to keep getting abnormal paps because of the HPV. Unfortunately, there is no cure for this virus (although there is a vaccine planned for release in a year or so). That's why it's critical to your continued good health to get your pap smear done on the schedule recommended by your gyn.preshy703-15-2004, 10:47 AMI had a conization for severe dysplasie (due to hpv) in Sept 02. Over the course of a year and a half, my dysplasia slowly come back as "mild-modearte" and I just got the Cryo therapy 2 weeks ago. I am hoping with the use of condoms and getting off the bc pill and daily vitamins that my dysplasia will not come back again, but with HPV you never know. As long as you go back for the paps when your DR says, you will never develop cancer.KimRick03-15-2004, 12:11 PMAs long as you have HPV, there's ALWAYS that risk of it returning! Why would you stop taking daily vitamins to prevent dysplasia from returning?preshy703-15-2004, 12:58 PMI Meantto Stay Keep Taking Vitamins!~KimRick03-15-2004, 01:59 PMOoohhh! ;)hefnerbrats09-20-2005, 07:58 AMI also have cervical dysplasia with hpv. It keeps coming back. I am having my second colposcopy today. It has only been a little over a year since the last one which seems way to close. I know some people that have not had frequent recurrences like mine but everyones body reacts different to this. I went from having normal pap to six months later having cin2(moderate). Be sure to keep all your appointments.Good luck.gymbogram09-21-2005, 12:10 AMWhat kind of vitamins do you ladies with HPV take to prevent the dysplasia to come back? Thank you,Christinenotorious b09-21-2005, 11:03 AMMy doctor has just told me to take a multi-vitamin. Part of beating cancer before it starts is being healthy. So, making sure you get your daily dose of iron and calcium and stuff is always a good idea. :)
