Freaking out about possible ovarian cancer

Leanna06-25-2004, 07:02 PMI have a small cyst on my right ovary (2 cm X 2 cm). My gyn sent me for a CA125 test and the result came back at 86 (which is high). I am now freaking out that I might have ovarian cancer. Of course I can't get a hold of my gyn, the staff called with the result. Are the CA 125 tests accurate? Can anyone give me words of reassurance?

Thanks.

--LDawnP06-25-2004, 07:16 PMFor whatever it's worth, my Dr. does not like the CA125 test because of all the false positives. You could very well just have a cyst and the test results are just a coincidence.

Try not to worry too much and let us know how you are.

all the best,

DawnPangnicmarie06-28-2004, 02:03 PMYou can't ALWAYS trust the CA 125 test. When my cancer was found my tumor marker test results were 30, and after the staging surgery I was staged at Stage 3C. My doctors were astonished. So, you never know. Take Care. And don't just ignore it, look into the results and get to the bottom of the problem. Bye ... Nicole
